Archaeological sites

From very old, this area was populated, while visible signs of past civilizations were present. Thesprotia in prehistoric times consisted of almost the entire Epirus.

Since the end of the fifth century the Molossians settled Dodona. There are several historical sites that are now visitable and are listed below. The region of Thesprotia includes the river Acheron, the lake of Kalodiki, the river Kalamas, the land of Fanari and Paramythia.

This region are populated from the 4th century and acropolis were built at strategic points.

The year 2009 opened and can be visited on the north side of Igoumenitsa new archaeological museum with finds from the whole region.
